Shiwen Ye

Shiwen Ye (born March 1, 1996) is the world record holder for the Women's 400m Individual Medley. At the age of 16, she is the youngest to win two gold medals at the 2012 Summer Olympics for the Women's 400m Individual Medley and the Women's 200m Individual Medley. Ye surged into the world swimming spotlight in 2011 by coming back from behind to win the Women's 200m Individual Medley at the 2011 World Aquatics Championships.

Born in Hangzhou, China, Ye began swimming at the age of 7. She won seven championships in 2010 in swimming completions in China and Asia.

During the Women's 400m Individual Medley she at the 2012 Summer Olympics, she swam the last 50m in 28.93 seconds, beating her male counterpart, Ryan Lochte, the winner of the corresponding men's event who swam the last 50m in 29.10 seconds.
