pelton wheel

Altered version of traditional turbine, a pelton wheel uses a scoop-shaped bucket model attached to a hub to increase efficiency. The momentum of the water pushes water into the cups, resulting in the spinning of the turbine. The shape of the cup allows for higher efficiency and obtains more energy from water, as water leaves the wheel at a very slow rate. The use of pelton wheels do require at certain speed of water to work effectively.
