Changes seen in the lung parenchyma distal to an obstruction, regardless of cause. This disorder typically includes accumulation of foamy macrophages within alveoli, inspissated mucus, prominent type II alveolar lining cells, mononuclear interstitial infiltrates, and, in some cases, organizing pneumonia.
