Edward Scissorhands

Edward Scissorhands is a movie dating back to 1990 and often considered as being Tim Burton's masterpiece. The main character, Edward, is a lonely man taken from his dark and remoted castle to live in a colourful suburbia. However, because of his appearance, he gets rejected by most of the little town's inhabitants, except from Kim, the girl he is in love with.

As for most of Tim Burton's movies, the synopsys may appear as simple and sometimes a bit childlike, but as usual, deeper meanings can be found through various metaphors. As for Edward Scissorhands character, it has often been argued that he was the direct portrait of Tim Burton himself, archetype of the tortured and misunderstood artist.

This movie manages to mix Tim Burton's gothic universe and a contrasting colourful world.

Edward character is played by Johnny Depp, a recurrent actor in Tim Burton's movies.
