The Garden of Earthly Delights

Bosch's most famous and unconventional picture, The Garden of Earthly Delights was painted between 1490 and 1510. The oil painting is on three panels, with two side pannels closing over the centre as shutters.

The left panel shows the creation story; the center, sexually engaged nude figures; and the right, scenes of damnation. As such, it is widely understood that the painting should be viewed from left to right, as a warning against life's temptations.

The painting is currently housed in the Museo del Prado in Madrid.
